Putting OAPs into historical photos

· Bernie Goldbach

Two logos are shown side by side, one with a colorful G and the word Gemini, and the other with a banana icon and the words Nano Banana.

Several times a month, I show pensioners interesting things they can do with their phones. Today I am chatting with a group of 10 people about faces and places they might remember from Tipperay town. A few of the historic photos sit in a shared Drive at bit.ly/4y1Jhzn .

And after some discussion about what it sounded like in the photos, I invite the group to imagine themselves in a photo from the 1930s or 1950s.

Here are the steps I demonstrate.

  1. Download Google Gemini.

  2. Snap a selfie.

  3. Select an image with a person in the old photo. Discuss the year.

  4. Ask AI to describe the clothing. Copy that description.

  5. Ask Gemini Nano Banana to create an image of your selfie wearing the clothing described in the old photo. Paste the description you copied into the prompt.

  6. Save the result.

  7. Send the AI-generated photo to clonmeldigital@gmail.com

Then I print rhe results on a portable Canon Selphy printer. I will upsate this post by showing some results.
