Inspired by creative visual thinking

I work with a select group of people who help me connect ideas. Some of the most creative people can visualise what they think. To me, those creative visual thinkers stand above the fray and they bring individual points of colour and identity into their professional relationships with me.

There is a wall-mounted sculpture in the main foyer of the Institute of Public Administration in Dublin that illustrates what I view in the realm of creative visual thinking. The sculpture incorporates steel framework that represents processes and constraints. The sculpture’s coloured elements appear to be outputs moving through a system.

In my quest to articulate my own framework of creative visual thinking, I know no single component of my personal creative process makes much sense alone. Meaning emerges from the connections between them and that thought resonates for me whenever I view this sculpture in the foyer of the IPA in Dublin.
