Trump in Clare and Deep MAGA in Kerry

This weekend, Donald Trump and his posse are in holiday mode along the Irish coast in County Clare. The town of Dunloe is brimming with happy people because Trump’s hotel keeps the town ticking over. Trump’s hotel is a nice venue, but not as classy as The Dunloe where the cover shot of this post was snapped.

I vividly remember the weekend we spent in The Dunloe and the spectacular view we enjoyed from our room. We were gifted the room for €50 because I was supposed to collaborate with a tour group that specialised in bringing retired military to County Kerry. I didn’t start the collaboration and that is ever more relevant because 500 retired military officers I knew from the USAF Academy are expecting me to meet them in Colorado 15 days from now. I’m not making the trip.

One of the reasons I'm not going to my 50th reunion is because more than two thirds of those attending have voted three times for Trump and my values simply do not align. I'm afraid I will get involved in spirited debates with several of the lads who have accused me of being "un-American" and "sliding into communism". It would take more than three pints to dial down the rhetoric and I don't think I need to expose myself to it.

I am thinking seriously about bringing the family back to The Dunloe before Christmas, knowing that if I sat in the expansive lobby I would spot retirees with military haircuts who will grumble about not having Fox on the pub's television and who will lob Trump talking points in conversations they have with their traveling parties. The retired military officers I know have at least two pensions and they're burning off some of their 401-K accounts by bringing their families to Ireland.

I'm going to rewind another part of my life during the remaining days in September by looking through several of the Moleksines I finished between 2010-2016. There are notes on some of their pages that will show me the Last.fm accounts of now silent friends who shared their playlists. Like the one I described in this Topgold Audio Clip
