Being kinder to my blood pressure
Forty years after my last intercontinental flight, I’m trying to see if I can do a minimum crew rest turn-around. I am failing in this regard.
In an earlier life, I could do 16 hours of flight-related duties then recover with 12 hours of crew rest. Yesterday my day started at 5am and finished at 9:35pm. That is a 16 hour day, covering more than 700km.
I started a new day today and will cover 340km. But I got less than 6 hours of crew rest. The Whoop wristband says I’m being unkind to my blood pressure.
Looking back on the way I used to work, I should give myself more crew rest. And in my non-flying life, I shouldn’t put back-to-back office calls on my calendar. Doing that makes me feel older.
