I believe the best multi-generational Christmas gift in our home wasn’t the drum kit Dylan (14) received. It was the midnight blue Roberts Radio that aRuth got. That’s because I saw the eyes of my octagenarian in-laws light up when they saw and heard its multi-room sound and as they watched us tune Irish DAB stations to play Christmas samples from all Irish provinces.
The Revival iStream3 radio, pictured in our kitchen just like the device I remember from my treen years, has an iconic look and its colour complements its surroundings.
‘Vintage style meets modern tech’ is what the store label said before I bought it. We haven’t set up all its features because some of them work best when using the radio as a bedside device. I think we will keep it in the kitchen and also take it on a road trip. It has a cute carrier strap.
