I started playing with the Substack app during the Christmas break, trying to see if it is strong enough to let me publish thoughts with my thumbs. I am podskills.substack.com because I like the networking effect inside the Stacks.
I am sharing a photo that shows five tools on a table in front of me. I carry three of them most of the time. Here’s more:
The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are good for recording videos and still photos. When I stsrt using the hand-me-down Samsung Flip 4 phone, I should be able to quickly make videos that will drop directly onto the phone where they can be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo and then added to posts.
And the same workflow should be possible with the Osmo Pocket 3 camera that is flat on the table. The DJI Mimo app should connect the Osmo 3 with the Flip 4. It doesn’t work with my 5yo Samsung Note 9.
I’m thinking about returning to typing on the Brydge Mini 7.9 keyboard that is in thr mode of the shot. I used it nearly every work day with our iPad Mini 4 eight years ago. I need to carry a mini easel to hold the mobile phone OR I may discover the Flip 4 is its own easel. I will video this setup if I start using the keyboard regularly so you can see what I mean.
The last item in the shot is a wireless charger that serves as an easel for our iPhones. I got a Neotrix Qi for Christmas that works well as an easel when charging my Samsung phones.
OK. I think this thumb-typing works with the Substack app. Let’s see if this post uploads from the app and then appears in front of the three people who are following me on Substack.
If you are viewing this outside of Sunstsck it is because I copied the Substsck post to https://topgold.micro.blog where it cross-posted to Bluesky, Threads, and RSS.
