This is effective for all artists to broaden your horizons and make you an artist capable of various styles and open for business.

Ed Catmull also believes that to get work as an professional artist that you must learn from other artists who are in the area you’re trying to break into. Learn the styles that have been effective in the industry. Catmull believes that no one should fear challenge and practice makes perfect. All employers respect people(in any business) that go the extra mile. People should be more open minded and especially enthusiatic, we live in this world with thousands and millions with the same talents, skills and possibly determination. For that reason we must realize that those people are fundementally our competitors into the industry. We need to know how to stand out, we need to know multiple skills or styles in the industry to achieve greatness.
