@rothaiocht.bsky.social Travel is so important. I gained perspective first hand during overnights in 30 countries and living in 15 US States. My timeless memories (and a physical scar) come from Pacific islands.

@rothaiocht.bsky.social Prep T for travel. If she has an Irish passport, she could get Interrail to roam free on a EU-funded itinerary when 18.

@klillington.bsky.social wondering if @mneylon.social is listening

@emollick.bsky.social Your recent string of posts suggests Professors of Arts and Humanities should upskill with Github and Gitlab. Thinking this is truly a 21st century earmark of polymaths.

@rothaiocht.bsky.social Best tapas I ever had were under a leaking umbrella table in Valencia.

@topgold.ie Thanks! I will read the research paper. My expertise is limited to the EXIF level when sussing authenticity.

@topgold.ie You’ve identified why I pay more than €150 monthly to read trusted bylines instead of scrolling socials.

@topgold.ie Yeah, I’ll have a project report published on iteration.ie by the end of the next session in August.

@topgold.ie A separate Claude run about the role of AI in education explores semantic relationships between items in my personal knowledge management system.

@topgold.ie I have several “AI just with your phone” workshops planned with people who do not speak English. I need to improve the content so the sessions entice 45yo women. The proposed content is sectioned inside my Obsidian vault. Claude reviews each 15 minute Obsidian section and offers ideas …

@klillington.bsky.social If those intersections had cameras similar to the German ones that snapped me rolling through red were installed in Ireland, I reckon the backlash would be predictable.

@rothaiocht.bsky.social OK, and that’s my perspective too. But so many of my earliest reads jumped from blogs to shorts and then into substack because of its easy on-ramp. I’m getting their blogging voice when I capture their words in my newsreader. I never see their Substacks. Just their words.

@rothaiocht.bsky.social I pull my fav Stacks into Inoreader using a throwaway ino.to address there. So I get the words without visiting Substsck and without annoying pop-ups, distracting interstitials, or persistent pop-unders.

@mkirschenbaum.bsky.social So many educators are strident AI critics but they have never moved on from the time when the space was only populated with sycophantic chatbots.

@sm2n.bsky.social Back in the Audioboosphere we could stitch all these audio blogs into one playlist.

@topgold.ie If you can pay €250 a month now you can share compute on a rack with friends in cloud-hosted open source AI.

@sm2n.bsky.social Claude makes good use of email threads, especially those with titles including reserved terms like “Meet” or “Plan” or “Review”. These can be Notes to Self in the form of emails or transcripts.

@sm2n.bsky.social I burned too many tokens letting Claude scrub more than 33000 emails from my Yahoo! Your hand-crafted method is what the AI did and that used all my AI access for 25% of the work day.

@mathewlowry.eurosky.social I follow the most popular items saved on pinboard.in and get a similar vibe nowadays.

@topgold.ie GOOG so dominant. OpenAI will lead the race to stock market correction. Buckle up for 2029, especially if you’re feeding off tech industry revenues.

@alexchen01.bsky.social I’m running a pre-conference workshop in Berlin this December and elements of this thread will feature as a recipe.

@alexchen01.bsky.social Data Sovereignty will get you through the AI Winter.

@alexchen01.bsky.social My Mac Mini friends were the first onto the idea last year.

@manton.org The calendar view appeals to my leaderboard persona.
